Children’s Liturgy
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Mark 10:14
We want to welcome all preschoolers through first graders to the Children’s Liturgy of the Word program. What a blessing this is for our young parishioners to grow in faith and understanding of the life of Jesus and what a privilege this is for our teachers to help plant faith’s seeds into their hearts. Our dedicated volunteers teach the Gospel reading through stories, songs and hands-on activities. We offer Children’s Liturgy at each Mass throughout most of the school year from September to June.
The children are to sit with their families at the beginning of Mass. After the opening prayer and the “Gloria”, the priest will call the children to come to the altar to receive a special blessing. Then the teachers and assistants will escort the children to the preschool rooms where they will spend about 20 minutes sharing God’s Word.
Our teachers have experienced much joy in sharing the Good News of Jesus with the children. Prayerfully consider helping in this program as a teacher or assistant. Your commitment would involve one class during one Mass every four weeks. As a volunteer, you are provided the lesson plan, all supplies and a prepared environment. We welcome new volunteers throughout the program year.
