Holy Spirit Catholic Church

Scouts

Holy Spirit is the chartering organization for Boy Scout Troop 985 and Cub Scout Pack 985. The scouting program teaches the boys their duty to God and our country and to attain their own self-worth.

Cub Scouting is a family program designed for boys, grades 1-5. Cub scouts meet within their assigned dens where they work on advancements for the ranks of Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos. The pack meets monthly for rank advancements, joint activities and awards.

Boy Scouting is available to all boys who have completed the fifth grade or are 11 years of age. Scouts hold weekly troop meetings to work on skills and merit badges which are required for advancement through the ranks of Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life, and finally, Eagle Scout. The boy scouts camp monthly and participate in an annual Retreatoree, spring and fall Camporees and a one-week summer camp.

Scout Religious Emblems are a recognition that the Catholic Church gives to Cub and Boy Scouts for advancement in religious knowledge and spiritual formation. Cub Scouts may work on earning the Light of Christ Medal (Tiger and Wolf Cubs) or the Parvuli Dei Medal (Bears and Webelos). Boy Scouts may earn the Ad Altare Dei Medal (ages 13-15). The Pope Pius XII Award is available for scouts 15-18 who have already earned the Ad Altare Award. The contact for Religious Emblems is Cecile Greene.
