Baptism
Baptism is the beginning of our journey of faith, a journey that deepens as we grow and mature in our relationship with the Lord. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated periodically throughout the year at the weekend liturgies as well as on Sunday afternoons at 2 PM (see schedule below). Baptism preparation classes for parents are required by the diocese. To assist the parents of this community who want to share their faith with their children and have them baptized, Holy Spirit Parish offers a program which consists of one evening session in an informal setting with other parents. Time is taken for reflection on the meaning of Baptism in the Christian home and immediate preparation for the ceremony itself. Classes are held in Activity B and the Worship Space.
Participating parents must be registered members of the parish community for at least four months. Both parents are expected to take part in this program. The sessions are held regularly, and parents may attend them before the birth of their child. To register for preparation classes, call Blanche Laurence at 468-3600, ext. 105.
