Octave of Service
Saint Vincent de Paul
To commemorate the 200th anniversary of our Diocese, all parish ministries are invited to participate in the Octave of Service from September 27, the feast day of St. Vincent de Paul, to October 4th.
An Octave of Service is a week-long opportunity for parish ministries to carry out various forms of outreach in their communities while living the Gospel values of encounter and accompaniment. Our diocesan patron, St. Vincent de Paul (1581–1660), is venerated for his compassion toward the poor and his charitable works.
Please join us on Thursday, October 1 at 7 PM for a Prayer Service and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament as we pray in a special way for the poor and those who are in need. The following events and activities will provide various opportunities to participate in corporal works of mercy and put our Catholic faith into action as we share God’s love with those in need:
Saint Vincent de Paul Ministry
We are currently planning for the implementation of a chapter of St. Vincent de Paul at Holy Spirit to provide assistance to the poor and suffering, advocate for social justice and provide opportunities to empower the poor to help themselves. The St. Vincent de Paul Society strives to deepen the faith and spirituality of its members as they serve their brothers and sisters in need. Contact: Dave Laurence at firstname.lastname@example.org
Holy Spirit Face Mask Fundraiser
Holy Spirit Face Masks displaying our parish flame logo will be available to our parishioners starting September 27. An $8 donation per mask will help to care for the poor in Haiti and provide funds necessary to purchase the audio and visual equipment that will allow us to live-stream daily and weekend Masses from Holy Spirit Catholic Church for the sick, elderly, disabled, and perpetually homebound of our parish community who are unable to attend Mass publicly. You may be able to order your face masks via a link to an online form that will be provided soon.
Baby Supply Drive
(Respect Life Ministry)
Starting Monday, September 27 and continuing throughout the entire month of October, we will be collecting the following baby supplies to assist the poor and the young mothers who may have experienced unplanned pregnancies without the means to properly care for their newborn. Items needed are:
Disposable diapers (size newborn to 5) Pacifiers
Wipes Baby towels and wash cloths
Bottles (4 oz. & 8 oz. sizes) Baby clothes (preemie – 12 months)
Parishioners have 2 options to contribute:
1. A "baby registry" will be established through Amazon.com and will be available soon. Items you purchase will be delivered directly to Holy Spirit.
2. You may drop off the baby items into the designated bins located in the church Commons.
Spirit House provides transitional housing for homeless women with mental disabilities and relies heavily on the generous donations and support from our parishioners. We are in need of volunteers to help with the necessary repair work around the house:
