"Only one thing..." (My weekly update)

A blessed Saturday, everyone! There has been a lot happening around the parish this week, and much more in store as we look ahead.

Speaking of "busy-ness," this weekend we'll hear the familiar (and relatable!) Gospel passage in which Jesus teaches Martha and Mary, sharing with them, and all of us, that "there is need of only one thing." Take a few moments to read and reflect on the Scripture passages for Sunday Mass.

And now, a few other updates...

HAITI DINNER AND FESTIVAL: Tonight (Saturday, July 16) after Mass the Haiti Ministry has organized a dinner and festival to benefit our twin parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Seau D'Eau. Tickets will be sold at the door, and all meals include two sides and a drink. I hope to see you there!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Next week is the first of our two sessions of Vacation Bible School, which is always an exciting time at the parish. Having the week punctuated by the laughter and enthusiasm of the little ones (and the many generous volunteers) is a source of joy. Thank you to everyone giving of themselves to make this a formative and fun time for our young people.

KIDS' CLOTHING DRIVE: The St. Vincent de Paul Society is collecting new or gently used children's clothing through the month of July. We are looking for clothing for children of all ages, from preschool through high school. Donations can be left on the cart outside the parish office. Thank you for your generosity.

PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL: In honor of the Memorial of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (July 16) and in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in our twin parish, please join me in prayer:

O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in this my necessity. O Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein that you are my Mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart, to succor me in this my necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. O show me herein that you are my Mother.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us that have recourse to thee. (Repeat three times)

Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands. (Repeat three times)
