By now you have no doubt heard about the draft Supreme Court opinion indicating a reversal of Roe v. Wade. Unsurprisingly, given our current political and social climate, the news of this leaked opinion has been met with jubilation, outrage, and everything in between. As Catholics, we are called to give witness to the Gospel of Life in all we do, recognizing the inherent dignity of each human person from the moment of conception until natural death. This witness flows from the fact that each and every one of us is lovingly made by God in His image and likeness.
Regardless of the Court's forthcoming verdict, the need for us to proclaim the Gospel of Life will remain, and this is a witness that must begin and be grounded in prayer. To that end, the bishops of the United States have asked that we pray and fast in a special way for this intention on Friday, May 13, which is the Memorial of Our Lady of Fatima. I encourage everyone to participate in this effort by praying and fasting for the protection of all human life. Here at the parish, we will be praying the Rosary as normal at 7:15am, before Mass at 8:00. Please join us as you are able as we unite in prayer.
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!
